OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

General objectives.

The program aims to produce skilled technicians with unique capabilities in Information and Communication Technology sector meeting and future challenges.

Specific objectives.

Specifically, the program aims to:

  1. To increase number of technicians with skills of Information Communication Technology equipment and accessories
  2. To increase number of technicians with thorough understanding of the principles associated with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) applications
  3. To increase number of technicians with initiative, imagination, perception and confidence enough to cope with new situations, problems and ideas by critical analysis of situations, synthesis of practical solutions and application of new ideas in Information and Communication Technology sector

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The applicant should posses at least four (4) passes in non-religious subjects in the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or should posses the National Vocational Award Level III (Trade Test Grade I) in a relevant field from a recognized institution with any Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) OR Equivalent as approved by the ATC Governing Board.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

The Basic Technician Certificate in Information Technology offers the learner basic knowledge and skills in English Communication Skills, Elementary Mathematics, Computer Fundamentals and Applications, Internet Essentials, Introduction to Computer Networks, Basic of Electronics, Gender and HIV, Customer Relationship Management, Computer Maintenance and Troubleshooting, Introduction to Multimedia, Introduction to high level programming and Web Design.
